It was a sweet revenge when Nigeria on Saturday beat Algeria to move into the AFCON 2025 semi-finals.
The match was played at the over 45, 000 capacity Grand Stadium, Marrakesh, Morocco.
The dominant Super Eagle defeated the Fennec Foxes 2 – 0, to erase the memory of 2019 when Algeria sent them packing from the AFCON semi – finals. Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez via free kick in stoppage time gave his team 2-1 win over Nigeria in the tense match.
At the Grand Stadium in Marrakesh, Victor Osimhen through a header recorded the first goal for the Eagles in the 47th minutes while Akor Adams also netted in the 57th minutes to make it two.

The host country – Morocco, Egypt, and Senegal have also sealed their places in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 following their victories in the quarter -final matches.
Egypt edged Côte d’Ivoire 3–2 on Saturday night, knocking out the defending champions in a pulsating contest and sealing their place in the semi-finals.
Nigeria will play against Morocco in the semi -finals on Wednesday, 14 January, while Senegal and Egypt will play in the other semi- final game on the same day.
