The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, on Monday received Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, who paid a courtesy visit to the Ikorodu main campus of the institution.

Sen. Eshinlokun visited LASUSTECH to inspect the ongoing construction of a 725-seater capacity hall he facilitated through the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

He was welcomed by LASUSTECH Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, and other principal officers of the institution. In his remarks, Prof. Odusanya expressed appreciation to Senator Eshinlokun for facilitating the project through NIMASA, noting that the hall would serve as a major boost to the university’s infrastructure and provide a conducive space for academic and social engagements.

Responding, Senator Eshinlokun explained that the purpose of his visit was to assess the progress of the NIMASA-sponsored project he facilitated. He assured the university management that the project would be completed within months without any setbacks, stressing his commitment to ensuring its timely delivery.

The Senator further emphasised that though he represents Lagos Central District, he felt the need to extend support to LASUSTECH as a new university deserving of attention and resources. He noted that institutions such as the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Lagos State University (LASU) already enjoy significant government and public focus, hence his decision to prioritise LASUSTECH to strengthen its foundation.

It will be recalled that in June 2024, a NIMASA delegation visited LASUSTECH for the allocation and official handing over of the proposed site for the 725-seater capacity hall. The project, once completed, is expected to stand as a landmark facility for the university community.
