-Pledges one road per ward in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA

The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Omoba Hammed Aroyewun has assured stakeholders and general residents of the council that their concerns and challenges are being addressed one – after – the – other since his administration came on board about three months.
Aroyewun who marked his administration’s first 100 days in office last week with projects commissioning across the three major sections of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA also assured residents that all their demands and requests have been captured in his campaign GLORY Agenda and they would be pursued and executed in fulfilment of his electoral promises thoroughly.
The council administrator made the statement at the 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting, which is first in his administration, held at the council secretariat on Thursday, with leaders, royal fathers, council functionaries and other stakeholders in attendance to make inputs into the budget for next year.

He emphasised that the 2026 budget preparation is guided by the theme, “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” which underscores the administration’s resolve to ensure that every community, demographic group, and economic sector benefit from government planning and resource allocation. He stressed that the theme reflects a deliberate commitment to collective growth, one where development is not limited to a few, but is felt across all wards, markets, institutions, and households within the LCDA.
Aroyewun, responding to stakeholders’ requests which mainly centered on roads, said that his administration is deliberate about ensuring that inner roads are in good order to complement efforts of the federal and state government that are working on making major roads motorable.
“From all the comments and requests made, I can see that most of them are similar. People are asking for roads—at Igbogbo, Oreta, in Baiyeku and Ibeshe —everywhere, it is almost the same request. And truly, under the GLORY Agenda, all these concerns are included.

“Some people mentioned the inner roads. We have already started construction on some of the inner roads because I am from this same Igbogbo/Baiyeku, and I understand how important the inner roads are. If we fix only the major roads and leave the inner ones bad, it will not be good enough. Our major roads are already getting attention, and the inner roads must also be taken care of.
“We thank God for giving us good leaders, especially someone like Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, who has done so much for this community. We also commend efforts by our dear representatives – Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, Rep. Babajii Benson and Hon. Aro Moshood. By the grace of God, from 2026, we will embark on at least one inner road per ward.”
The council chairman revealed some of his efforts in ensuring good roads, security, education, market development and adequate health centres among others.

“If we look at Ijaolu Road, before our late Kabiyesi passed on, I met with him. He spoke about the road and other issues. Immediately I left him, I called Hon. Babajimi Benson told him that this road was beyond the capacity of the local government, and asked how he could support us.
“Hon. Benson immediately sent an engineer to inspect the road, and the project is already being considered for action.
“About the Smart Police Station—we have only three in the whole of Lagos State, and it is Elepe that got one for the Ikorodu Division.
“On the issue of markets – for Ward C4, we are working on how to redevelop Elepe Market and for Ward C5, the process of improving the market at Ibeshe has already started. We will go round all the wards to address market issues.”

In his response to requests for schools and health centres, Omoba Aroyewun, said: “For Ward C4, they only have two primary schools—one built in 1950 and the other around 1979/1981. These are the only two schools there. My administration has agreed that we will build a new, beautiful primary school there after we complete Zumaratu Primary School. There is already land available.”
Also, in response to the representative of Ward C3, the council chairman said, “I have had private discussions with stakeholders there, and we are working on what needs to be done.
“We also have a challenge with our health centres. Many people have complained about the working hours of the staff. Some members of the House of Assembly came, and we presented everything to them. We also met with the Lagos State Health District II, to ensure that these health centres start operating 24 hours, because most of them currently work only 8 hours. They have promised to work on it.

“For everyone’s request, we are addressing them —step by step,” Omoba Aroyewun explained.
The Igbogbo/Baiyeku council boss said that he had intervened in addressing flooding challenges in some areas like the Pineapple Estate and further stated that the issue would be tackled before the next rainy season to effect a permanent solution.
While appreciating the youths, with emphasis that he and his vice are still youths, Omo’ba Aroyewun responded to the youth requests stating:
“On the issue of drug abuse, I want to plead with all of us to note that it is a serious social menace. The way our youths are getting involved in drugs now is too alarming. And many of these issues start from home. Parents, let us go back and talk to our children before things get worse.

“From next year, anybody who wants to learn a skill or handwork, we will sponsor them. And after the training, we will empower them. Whatever type of work you want to learn, it will be available,” he said.
He presented a detailed report of achievements recorded across critical sectors within the first 100 days of his administration, reaffirming his promise to restore and elevate the glory of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. He listed achievements in the areas of works and infrastructures, education, health, education, staff welfare and youth development among others.
In his remarks, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, thanked the party and community stakeholders for supporting the chairman and his administration.
He urged the chairman and other council functionaries to administer with truth, transparency and accountability.

The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, thanked the council chairman for his efforts in infrastructural developments of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA in his first 100 days in the office.
Hon. Orenuga assured stakeholders and residents that the council administrator will do better when there is budget to work with, while also appealing to residents to get their PVCs.
“As we gather here, I want to appreciate our chairman for his efforts during his 100 days in office. We have seen positive changes and developments, and we are optimistic that the 2024 budget will bring even more progress. I believe that with God’s blessing, the projects for 2026 will be even more remarkable.
“I would like to urge all residents of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA to participate in the ongoing PVC registration exercise. We should endeavour to register, capture, and collect our permanent voter cards. For those who have not done so, please take advantage of this opportunity,” he appealed.
