The second-round matches in the ongoing 2026 Adeboruwa Cup recorded its first knockout when the Back of Model team in a nail – biting encounter defeated Noah Ark 3 – 1.
The match which is the 49th match in the tournament which is being played at the United African Methodist Church (Eleja) Primary School, Igbogbo in commemoration of the annual Igbogbo Day Celebration, was keenly contested one but the Back of Model clinical finish proved to be the deciding factor.
Despite dominating possession, Noah Ark struggled to find the back of the net which was not only frustrating for their technical crew but fans as well.
On the other hand, the winner of the match, Back of Model capitalised on opportunities that were created during the match to secure a hard – fought win. The victory moved the team to the next round in the tournament while Noah Ark will have to wait till next year for another attempt at the cup.
While the Noah Ark coach who was feasibly frustrated and disappointed at the performance of his team turned down our reporter’s request for a post match interview, one of the team’s members who did expressed their disappointment.
“We were so pissed. It was a tough loss, and we are really saddened by it”, one of the Noah Ark team members said.
The tournament continues today.
