In fulfillment of his campaign agenda to expand access to education, especially in the areas that such facility is lacking, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, is set to establish a new primary school in Igbogbo.

The new school – Zumratul Islammiyah Primary School, will be carved out of the existing Zumratul Islammiyah Secondary School, Igbogbo, which has a very large expanse of land. When finally approved and the proposed school commences operation, it will serve Igbogbo, Selewu, Agunfoye, Awobo, and adjoining communities.

As part of the effort to achieve this, the state inspection team from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, on Thursday, visited the coucil for physical assessment of the site. The inspection team, led by Engr. Salam Adeniyi, also had Mrs. Adejoke Ogundiran, Mrs. Afolakemi Olayinka, and Mrs. Oderinde Olukorede Aderinke, and Mr. Okunlade.

The inspection was a follow-up to the earlier inspection visit by Omo’ba Aroyewun two weeks ago.

According to Chairman, the proposed primary school forms part of his administration’s GLORY Agenda, an acronym representing Growth, Learning, Opportunity, Reform, and Youth Development. He explained that the project addresses a pressing educational gap in the community, as many pupils currently travel long distances to attend existing public schools.

“We are taking deliberate steps to make learning more accessible to our children”, Aroyewun stated.

“Once the project is approved, construction will begin immediately, starting with a perimeter fence to guarantee safety and ensure a clear separation between the primary and secondary school sections”.
