The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the Independence Day anniversary, and called on residents of the council to renew their commitment towards its progress.
Ladega said that his administration is taking practical steps, but through its S.E.E.D Agenda, to transform Ikorodu.
He gave the charge on Wednesday, in a statement commemorating the 65th Independence Day anniversary of Nigeria.
His statement is reproduced below:

“My dear people of Ikorodu, as we celebrate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, we are reminded of the strength in our unity, the richness of our culture, and the resilience of our people. This day is not just a commemoration of freedom, it is a call to renew our collective commitment to progress. Through our administration’s S.E.E.D Agenda, focusing on Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development, we are taking deliberate steps to grow a more secure, educated, and empowered Ikorodu. These efforts align with the broader vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, and the national Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, both of which aim to deliver good governance and sustainable growth across Nigeria.

“In Ikorodu, we are not waiting for change, we are driving it. From community safety to educational empowerment and access to quality healthcare, our programs are reaching the grassroots where they matter most. Development is not just about roads and buildings; it’s about building people. It’s about restoring dignity and expanding opportunities that can lead to prosperity for all. Together with partners at the grassroots, state and federal levels, we are ensuring that the dividends of democracy are not a promise, but a lived reality.

“To the vibrant youths of Ikorodu, I encourage you not only to be youthful, but resourceful. You are the energy and future of our community. Embrace discipline, pursue education, and remain committed to hard work. Greatness doesn’t come by chance, it is built through focus, resilience, and the courage to dream beyond limitations. Avoid distractions and stay rooted in values that uplift. Your ideas, your voice, and your actions are vital to the future we are building.
“As we raise our flags and sing our national anthem, let this Independence Day renew our hope and strengthen our resolve. Let us remain united in purpose, committed to peace, and dedicated to building a greater Ikorodu where no one is left behind. The journey continues, and together, we will go farther.

“Happy Independence Day!
“Long live Ikorodu!
“Long live Lagos State!
“Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”.
