The Convener of BAT 2027 Network, United Kingdom chapter, Mr Hamzat Jimoh, has urged the former Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, to stop misrepresenting Nigerian political realities.
Mr Jimoh, in a statement, said that Hon. Tambuwal’s recent remarks that there is a national consensus to unseat President Bola Tinubu, was not only a personal conjecture but also a misrepresentation of the true situation of things in Nigeria.
In a statement issued in reaction to Tambuwal’s remarks titled, ‘Battle To Unseat Tinubu Is a National Consensus, Not a Northern Conspiracy’, the BAT Network convener said that President Tinubu has taken bold initiatives to reposition the country positively since his assumption of office two years ago.

“The BAT 2027 Network (UK Chapter) notes with concern the recent remarks attributed to Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, suggesting that efforts to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represent a national consensus rather than a northern conspiracy. We categorically reject this assertion as a personal projection and a misrepresentation of the political reality.
“It is imperative to set the record straight. Nigerians overwhelmingly endorsed President Tinubu in the 2023 elections, placing their trust in his Renewed Hope Agenda. This mandate was a clear rejection of the opposition party, which, after 24 years in power, left Nigeria grappling with economic stagnation and institutional decay.

“Since assuming office, President Tinubu has initiated bold reforms that have earned commendations from global financial institutions, including the World Bank and the IMF. Notably, Anshula Kant, Chief Financial Officer of the World Bank, recently acknowledged the significant strides made in Nigeria’s economy under the president’s leadership.
Giving Tinubu’s policy that he said has brought economic recovery, Mr Jimoh said that:
“In just two years, the administration has mobilized sustainable resources to drive infrastructure development and economic recovery. The removal of fuel subsidies was met with strategic interventions to cushion its impact such as the ₦200 billion SME loan fund via the Bank of Industry, the ₦1.5 trillion recapitalization of the Bank of Agriculture, the clearance of a $7 billion forex backlog and the over 104 Billion Naira disbursed as students loan to about six hundred thousand students across Nigeria.

“The unprecedented rise of the Nigeria’s FX reserves to $41 Billion, the over 1000 km of newly built railway tracks reflect a government committed to rescuing Nigeria from the brink of collapse.Reforms in the areas of education, healthcare, power, and security have further solidified public confidence in the Tinubu administration, both at home and among Nigerians in the diaspora. Contrary to Tambuwal’s claims, there is no national consensus to unseat the president, rather, there is growing support for his transformative agenda”.
He urged Tambuwal to focus on resolving the crisis that is plaguing his party, adding that Tinubu’s focus is primarily on redirecting Nigeria towards economic stability and development.
“We urge Rt. Hon. Tambuwal to redirect his energy towards resolving the internal crises plaguing his party, the PDP, instead of engaging in distractions and campaigns of calumny. The president remains focused on delivering results and will not be drawn into premature political debates about the 2027 elections.

“When the time comes, President Tinubu will proudly present his scorecard to the Nigerian people—one built on reform, resilience, and renewed hope. Until then, he remains committed to reshaping Nigeria’s future, undeterred by political theatrics”.
