Igbogbo/Bayeku, Imota Council Chairmen Commend IDPIL For Educational, Other Impacts

Away from the recent experience from immediate past council administrations across the six Local Government and Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, when there was opposition to the formation and existence of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) led by Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, the new crops of council helmsman seems ready to partner with the body.

Two of the new council chairmen, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku and Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA, have commended IDPIL for its impacts on Ikorodu Division especially in the area of educational development.

IDPIL held its 4th Annual Scholarship & Bursary Awards with over 200 students across various higher institutions getting financial supports.

Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, described the IDPIL gesture as investment in the future of Ikorodu Division.

“On behalf of the good people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, I extend heartfelt appreciation to the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Ltd/GTE (IDPIL/G) for their impactful gesture through the 4th Annual Scholarship and Bursary Awards.

“This noble effort is more than financial support; it is an investment in the future of our young people. Many of them carry lofty dreams but are hindered by limited resources.

“By lifting this burden, you are not only fuelling their aspirations but also sowing seeds of hope, peace, and prosperity across our communities,” he said.

Omo’oba Aroyewun added that educational support signified practical attempts to guide against youth unrest and their engaging in social vices and crimes.

“This scholarship scheme stands as a testament to the power of love, unity, and shared responsibility in shaping lives. It embodies the very essence of peace-building and community development.

“Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA is proud to align with this noble cause and reaffirms its commitment to partnerships that empower our children, strengthen families, and secure the future of our Division.”

The Executive Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Aydele (BSA), commended commitment to development of Ikorodu and readiness to cooperate with the council administrations in the Division.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to HRM Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, Olufoworesete II, and to High Chief Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, as well as the entire Board of Trustees of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Ltd/GTE (IDPIL/G) on the 4th Edition of the Annual Scholarship and Bursary Awards.

“I also want to take this opportunity to commend the Ikorodu Division Local Joint Task Force in Imota LCDA for their steadfastness, resilience, and cooperation with our administration. Over the years, IDPIL/G has consistently worked towards the growth and progress of Ikorodu Division and Lagos State as a whole. “

He expressed the gratitude of the Imota people to the Chairman and members of IDPIL for their gestures.

“On behalf of the people of Imota LCDA, we sincerely thank High Chief Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, for his unwavering commitment to driving developmental projects in the areas of Security, Health, and Education across Ikorodu Division.

“Imota LCDA is known for its hospitality and peaceful nature. Let us continue to uphold this spirit, live in harmony, and work together towards achieving sustainable development and a violence-free society.

“Thank you, sir, for your vision. Congratulations to all our sons and daughters who made it onto the list of beneficiaries for the scholarship, bursary 1, and bursary 2 awards.”

IDPIL since its formation has spent almost N100 million on scholarship and bursary awards which started four years ago. The body that was constituted has also emerged as the security architecture for the division investing several millions of naira on security infrastructures, personnel training and establishment of its operational secretariat among others.

The Divisional body established by the traditional rulers led by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangure of Ikorodu, has also made huge impacts on health by embarking on the construction a Renal Centre which will cost over a billion after completion and equipment with necessary facilities. The body has also provided the Imota General Hospital with an ambulance.

IDPIL has installed solar powered street lights across the division, rehabilitated school buildings and also embarked on the construction of the biggest technical college in Africa among other initiatives.

The Divisional body is also embarking on construction of two palaces and one royal residence across Ikorodu among other initiatives.
