The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), has pledged to give Ibeshe/Owode community additional primary school within three months if land is made available for the purpose.

Hon. Aro gave the pledge at the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Golden J Event Centre, Oke – Eletu, Ijede Local Council Development Area, after a political leader and the Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya, requested for an additional primary school in Ibeshe community to complement the existing two.

“Consider the school established within three months if land can be made available for the purpose”, the lawmaker responded to the request of the Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom.

Earlier at the event, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya had requested for an additional primary school to give more access to primary education to children in Ibeshe community, because of the population explosion and expansion of the community which the existing two primary schools cannot accommodate.

He said that the first primary school in the community was established 150 years ago, while the second one was established about 50 years.

“I want to call your attention to an area that needs attention in Ibeshe. In Ibeshe, there are only two public primary schools, one was established in 1947, about 150 years ago. The other one was established by Baba Aladura, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, when he was the Secretary to the Lagos State Government in 1979.

“Since then, Ibeshe only have those two public primary schools. Now, I want you to think of the population of children that are qualified to go to school at that time and now. The number of children that are qualified to go to the primary school now are hundred times more and yet, there is no capacity to accommodate them.

“In other words, we are denying the children of the commoners; we are denying children of ordinary Nigerians access to quality education. The function of the government is to make affordable education available for all who desire education.

“So, Hon. AMA, I know you can do it and I know that you will do it. By this time next year when we will be having another stakeholders’ meeting, we expect that you will make Olubeshe and the entire Ibeshe people happy by giving us a public primary school”, Asiwaju Kaoli said.
