The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul – Lateef Adedayo Ladega has felicitated Ikorodu people on the occasion of Isese Day.
Isese Day is celebrated every August 20th across Southwest Nigeria.
Ladega described the observation of the day as sacred and also as a remembrance of people’s roots.
He stated the foregoing in a statement in commemoration of 2025 Isese Day.
“My dear people of Ikorodu, sons and daughters of Oduduwa, and all lovers of culture, Iṣẹ́ṣe o!

“Today, my heart swells with immense pride and joy as we collectively celebrate Isese Day, a day deeply woven into the fabric of our identity. This is not merely a date on the calendar, it is a sacred invocation of our spirit, a solemn remembrance of our roots, and a vibrant celebration of our existence.”
He emphasised that people gathered together on the day to celebrate heritage and sustain their culture.
“We gather under the banner of our heritage, a heritage so beautiful and profound that it has carried the wisdom of our ancestors across oceans and through generations.
“”I see the celebration of Isese as a fundamental duty, not just a cultural event. To know where you are going, you must never forget where you came from.

Our traditions are the bedrock upon which we build our future, a future of progress that is informed by the values of respect, community, and spiritual balance that our ancestors cherished.”
Prince Ladega urged massive participation and used the celebration to inspire them for the future.
“Therefore, I encourage every one of you, young and old, to engage in today’s celebrations with open hearts and reflective minds. Honour the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future.
“Let the world see the dignity, the colour, the music, and the unwavering spirit of Ikorodu and the Yoruba people.

“May the blessings of the ancestors be with you and your families today and always.
“Ọdún yìí yóò jẹ́ ti ìtẹ̀síwájú àti àlàáfíà. Àsé.”
