Residents, Party Members Mourn Outspoken APC Leader, Primate Charles Odugbesi’s Death

Residents and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division have expressed shock since the announcement of the death of one of the party leaders in the state, Primate Charles Odugbesi, Jpil.

He was said to have succumbed to the cold hands of death early this morning.

Odugbesi, who was the leader of his Church, served as the General Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for about eight years.

He was known for always speaking out, writing open letters and issuing press statements on issues, to express his views. His last letter was released a few days ago to deny the allegation that The Mandate Group is opposed to the nomination of a particular Commissioner nominee from Ikorodu.

Odugbesi aspired for the Ikorodu Federal House of Representatives seat, about nine years ago.

He was the Director – General of late Sen. Adebayo Osinowo Campaign and a Senatorial leader of The Mandate Group, until his death.

Meanwhile, party chieftains and members have been mourning the passage of the revered party chieftain.

Mr Adedoyin Jokotex, a young professional and politician, described the death of Primate Odugbesi as shocking and painful.

“With total submission to the will of Almighty God, we announce the shocking and painful death of our revered leader and mentor, Primate Charles Odugbesi, which occurred early this morning”, he said.

“This is a personal loss to me as my uncle,father,political leader and mentor. Omoba Jiboro Ogbonyari. Adieu, Charlie Coco”.

Ogbeni Wunmi Amusa also lamented his death.

“Ah! So it is true that one of the very few Ikorodu honest and straightforward politician is gone. May his soul rest in peace.
“Goodnight my leader”.

Samson Bisitiyu, a former Assembly aspirant, also commenting on the loss, said:

“Adieu, Primate Charles Odugbesi, JP.”

“We lost him this morning”.
