IDPIL Screens Over 300 Candidate For 2025 Scholarship, Bursary Awards

The screening panel of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL) concluded it’s screening of candidates that applied for the 2025 scholarship and bursary schemes on Thursday, with over 300 applicants screened for the three days exercise.

The screening which comprises aptitude tests and interviews, started on Tuesday with student applicants across various higher institutions that are indigenes and residents of Ikorodu. The screening exercise which ended today took place at the IDPIL headquarters at Ita – Elewa, Ikorodu.

According to the IDPIL Scholarship and Bursary Committee, Mr Hassan Salami Awolaru, speaking officially with THE IMPACT at the final day of the screening, said that about 50 candidates applied for the scholarship scheme.

182 applicants were recorded for Bursary I and 85 students for Bursary II.

Femi Kalejaiye, member, Barr. Adetoun Adekoya, member and Mr Idowu Anthony Abisogun, consultant.

Students studying medicine and surgery dominated the scholarship category today with others studying Pharmacology, Applied Physics, Accounting, Physics and Electronics, Civil and Environmental Engineering among others.

During the interactive session, candidates were asked about their grades, disciplines, state of origin and residence, area of residence in Ikorodu, about their institutions and general questions.

While they have average of 4.50 in their CGPA, and performed very well in their responses to questions and pertaining to their disciplines, panelists were disappointed in their responses to general knowledge.

Some of the IDPIL officials who expressed their reservations at their poor outputs in the students general knowledge, charged them on the need to be all round scholars by venturing outside their disciplines to know about governance, politics, tradition, economy and their environment generally.

At the moment, there are 24 IDPIL Scholars who are receiving financial support from the organization. Successful candidates for the 2025 edition are expected to join the hall of the IDPIL Scholars.

About 1000 students have benefited so far from the Bursary I and I I schemes since inception four years ago.

While the beneficiaries of the IDPIL Scholarship are to benefit from the financial and mentorship support throughout their higher institution education, both the Bursary I and II categories are one -off exercises.

According to the IDPIL, date for the 2025 presentation of cheques which is usually a grand event will be announced soon.
