The Igbogbo Kingdom in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, will on Tuesday, hold its annual traditional Oro Abosan Festival.
The Oro festival which is usually the first of the two annual Oro festivals is peculiar to the Itun Abosan Ward of the ancient Igbogbo Kingdom.
Celebration of the Oro Abosan actually commenced some days back and it would reach its peak on Tuesday, when female folks will be restricted indoors for necessary rites to be performed.

In this regard, the Adeboruwa Palace has announced that there will be a restriction for female residents and female visitors coming into the town from the midnight on Monday till around 5am on Wednesday morning.
Oro festival which is an age – long tradition is used in cleansing the town and to offer prayers for growth and developments.
As usual, residents, both male and female are expected to celebrate together on Monday, the eve of the festival which is usually characterized by festivities and social gatherings.

The daily night show which has been on for days will also hit its height Monday night when youths in the community and friends from Ikorodu and other neighbouring towns are expected to troop into the town to celebrate with Igbogbo.
Meanwhile, the Adeboruwa Palace has warned against any act capable of causing violence or threatening the peace of the town. The palace enjoined residents and visitors, especially the male folks, to go about their activities in ways and manner that promotes peace and unity.

The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, his Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, has also congratulated every son, daughter and resident of Igbogbo on the occasion of the festival and prayed for its success.
Kabiyesi prayed that the community would continue to witness many of such in growth and developments.
