The chairmanship candidate of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), has said that the Eid el Kabir is a season that reminds the residents of the council of value of faith, unity and what binds together.

Aroyewun, who also enjoined Muslim faithful on the need to show love and support others, said in a statement felicitating the Muslims on the celebration of 2025 Eid -el – Kabir popularly known as ‘Ileya’ in the local parlance.

“Dear Esteemed Residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA,

“As we celebrate this joyous occasion ofEid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings to you all. This sacred festival of sacrifice reminds us of the values of faith, unity, and selflessness —principles that bind us together as a community.

“Eid-el-Kabir is a time to reflect on our shared commitment to building a prosperous and harmonious Igbogbo/Baiyeku. It is a moment to show love, support one another, and strengthen the bonds that make our LCDA a beacon of hope and progress.”

The young politician and leader also used the occasion to remember the late Grand Chief Imam of Igbogbo/Bajyeku LCDA, late Fadhilat Sheikh Dhikrullah Andullahi Andu, who had presided over Eid prayers for many decades as the leader of the Muslim community in Igbogbo, but passed on early this week.

He wished the Muslim faithful a blessed and joyous celebration.

“As we gather to mark this sacred occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, our hearts are heavy with a profound sense of loss. This is the first Eid without our revered and amiable Chief Imam, whose guiding light, wisdom, and compassion touched the lives of so many in our community.

“His absence leaves an ache in our souls, yet his legacy of love, unity, and faith continues to inspire us all. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace.

“I wish you and your families a peaceful, blessed, and joyous Ileya celebration. May this season bring you closer to one another and inspire us all to work towards a brighter future for our LCDA.

“Eid Mubarak!”
