The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu Local Government chapter, has extended heartfelt congratulations to all Chairmanship candidates in the council – Prince Adedayo Abdul-Lateef Ladega of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs Saidat Odofin of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Qs Adekunle Awesu Labour Party (LP), and others from other political parties, on their victories in their parties’ primary elections.
In a statement by the NYCN Coordinator, Comrade Basit Ogunsami, he called on all the candidates to be peaceful in the conduct of their campaigns, and also called on the electoral umpire, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), to be fair and just in its handling of the election process.

“As the general elections approaches, we urge all aspirants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and not perceive the election as a do-or-die affair. Politics should be about service, not desperation.
“We also call on the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to ensure that the forthcoming council elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. The credibility of the electoral process is crucial to sustaining peace and trust among the electorate”, NYCN charged.
The NYCN Coordinator further emphasized the importance of exhibiting good spirit of sportsmanship by the candidates, appealing that they should let the development of Ikorodu be the upper most in their minds.

He also called on the youths to participate fully in the forthcoming elections.
“Furthermore, we emphasize the importance of unity, oneness, and acceptance of the election outcomes by all the parties involved.
“Ikorodu is our home, and regardless of political differences, the development of our community must remain our top priority.
“We encourage our youths to participate actively, responsibly, and peacefully throughout the electoral process”, he urged.
