The Lagos First Lady, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo-Olu, and royal fathers in Ikorodu division, led by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba KabiruShotobi, today, welcomed the new babies born in the new year (2025), at the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
Baby Temidire Olaoluwa, who was delivered at 12:34 am, took home the crown for being the first baby of the year, with gifts showered on him by the Governor’s wife and other eminent guests and groups.
Gift Kchief is the second baby, while Funke Aderinola delivered the third baby of the year 2025.

Other Obas and eminent guests that stormed the General Hospital, lkorodu, to welcome the new year babies, were Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, wife of Lagos Deputy Governor, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Secretary to State Government (SSG), Hon. (Mrs) Olayinka Oladunjoy, Lagos representation, National Population Commission, His Royal Majesties Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Bashir Shotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. Dr Ibijoke Sanwo – Olu, speaking, said that the birth of new babies, is significant and symbolizes the assurances that our heritage is carried on to the next generations.
She said that the birth brings good fortune to the society and charged that mothers to ensure that the newborns are well taken care of during pregnancy and delivery.
The Lagos First Lady said that she and her team are not just visiting to celebrate the birth of new babies, but also offer assistance to others in needs.

The Chief Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, General Hospital Ikorodu, Dr Taiwo Hassan, welcoming the Lagos First Lady and her large entourage, said that the annual event shows the Governor’s commitment to the wellbeing of the future leaders.
He said that the governor’s dedication to the the healthcare system has brought about a tremendous improvement.
“Your Excellency, your unwavering passion and support for the healthcare system and family in Lagos State, has given healthcare delivery in the State a quantum leap under this administration, making it a model for other States to rigorously emulate.

“We are humble and at the same time boastful to declare today that the administration of Mr Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has, in no small measure, been favourably disposed to the development of this great Hospital, evidence of which are all around us today”, he said.
Dr Hassan went on to list the numerous achievements of the award -winning General H0ospital, Ikorodu.
In his royal remarks, Oba Shotobi said that Ikorodu attaches so much importance to the annual event, because people cherish new children in his kingdom.

The royal father said that it is a blessing for him personally that Ikorodu is increasing in population with the new babies.
He also commended the management of the hospital.
Mother of the first baby of the year, Mrs Odunayo OlaOluwa, a teacher and indigene of Oyo State, said that she felt honoured and thankful.

“I feel honoured and thankful to the glory of Almighty God. I didn’t see this coming, but I am honoured and humbled by the development and also appreciative of it.
“I am not taking this for granted at all.
“I feel honoured with the visit of the Lagos First Lady, which is coming through a wonderful gift of my baby girl”, she said.
