The Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria and the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, re – echoed the perception of eminent personalities across the country, residents of Ikorodu and Lagos in general and former students of Oriwu College, about the premier college in Ikorodu that it is a pride of Ikorodu Division and one of its gifts to the world.
Odofin Ogunsanya, who chaired the grand finale ceremony of the 75th anniversary of the school/award dinner and N100million fund raising for the school’s ICT/CBT Centre, also stated that the celebration is a commemoration of the remarkable history of the school.

The grand finale of the week -long celebration was held at the Arc. Olutusen Onafowokan Hall of the Ultra – Modern lkorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
“It is my privilege to stand before you today as Chairman of this 75th Anniversary Celebration of the premier secondary school in Ikorodu – Oriwu College. Today, we gather to commemorate a remarkable milestone in the history of the prestigious Oriwu College, Ikorodu.

“As we gather today, we remember the visionaries who founded this institution, paving the way for generations of leaders, innovators, and change-makers. I celebrate the achievements of the alumni in particular, who have made indelible marks in various fields.
“As we celebrate this milestone, I acknowledge the tireless efforts of the past and present teachers, staff, and students. Your hard work, creativity, and resilience have maintained our school’s reputation for academic rigour, innovation, and extracurricular achievements”.

While stating that Oriwu College is a pride of Ikorodu, Odofin Ogunsanya emphasized that the school has been the cornerstone of the division, producing notable individuals who have made their marks in various fields of human endeavours.
“It’s no doubt that Oriwu College has been a cornerstone of Ikorodu division at large, producing notable alumni who have made significant contributions to various sectors. We celebrate the achievements of our students, past and present, who have excelled in academics, sports, and the arts.
“Oriwu College 75-years journey has not been without challenges, but you have consistently risen to overcome them. Therefore, because I am a friend to this prestigious institution of learning, together we celebrate the triumphs, honour the heritage, and inspire future generations to reach new heights.

“To our students, I challenge you to continually strive for excellence, embracing challenges and exploring your passions.
While commending the alumni association of the school for its efforts which he expected to be sustained in producing quality graduates that will further make national and international impacts, Odofin Ogunsanya, also congratulated the school on the milestone celebration.
“Ladies and gentlemen, in conclusion, I quote Nelson Mandela, “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

“The future of Oriwu College so much depends on the quality of graduates, and we are fortunate to have the contributions of the alumni body in the past 75 years. On this landmark occasion, I would like to congratulate the Principals, staff members, students, 75th anniversary planning committee and alumni on this outstanding achievement.
Lastly, I would like to wish Oriwu College every success in her efforts to nurture future professionals and leaders with an international mindset”, he said.
