Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative, Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

To the surprise of many who have been rooting for his emergence as the next Governor of Lagos State, Rep. Babajimi Benson has appealed to his supporters, admirers and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Division, to allow him focus and pursue the delivery of his promises to them.

Benson, who is popular among the people of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency and other parts of the state, spoke while addressing executives of the APC, at the LGA and Ward levels and other stakeholders in Ikorodu Division.
At the event, the youthful lawmaker also enjoined the people to think about good governance and not about who takes over the governorship seat from Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, because, according to him, 2027 is still far away.

Like a good politician who understands his environment and its forces, the third term lawmaker announced that whoever is going to become the number one citizen in the state, is going to be determined by President Bola Tinubu.

“Let us leave the issue of who will emerge as the next governor aside. Our focus now should be how to make residents happy”, he said.

“Let us continue to work for improvement and how to make our people happy. The issue of the governor is still far ahead. That’s still in 2027.

“Asiwaju (Tinubu) will decide that… There is no tension at all”, he added.

Benson said that his focus at the moment is how to make the people happy by bringing more infrastructural developments and making food available among others.

“Let us continue to focus on governance. We will continue to bring more road construction to connect every part of Ikorodu, and constant electricity supply or solar environment”, he said.

“In terms of food, our focus is to make food available in abundance”, the lawmaker added.

Many of the party excos that spoke at the stakeholders’ meeting, openly declared their support for the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency as the next governor of the state, even though he has continually stated that he is still pursuing his four- year mandate as an elected lawmaker.

The issue of who becomes the next governor of Lagos State from Ikorodu, has been a consistent one, with many rooting for the young politician based on his quality representation, which many residents have described as unprecedented.
