Two young guys were killed in an unfortunate cult attack on Thursday night when Eiye and Aye cult groups clashed at Majidun area of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

The Thursday incident happened at a hotel around Onabote area inside Majidun’s shanties.

It was gathered that the unsuspecting Eiye cult guys were gathered to relax at the said hotel where other residents were, when their assailants suspected to be members of the rival Aiye cult group, stormed the place and swooped on them unexpectedly.

At the end of the attack, local vigilance sources in the area said that the two people killed in the incident were not cult members but were only caught in the crossfire, while another source said that only one of the victims was not an Eiye cult members.

THE IMPACT gathered that one of the remains of one of the victims was removed by his family with promise that they would return the corpse to the security but, however, yet to return it as at time of filing this report, while the other corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital.

It was gathered that the suspected Aiye members that perpetrated the act have been on the wanted list of the security outfits which have been trailing them for other crimes committed before the latest killings.

Sources at Majodun also informed our reporter that Lt. Col. Ayo, the new Commanding Officer of the Naval Base in Majidun and his officers, immediately swung into action on getting report about the incident, but their efforts to retrieve the corpse from the family that allegedly removed it, proved abortive.

On Friday, it was also gathered that the Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, met with Commanding Officer and other security agencies on Friday, on how to prevent retaliation and future occurrence.

When called to hear the Chairman’s view on the incident this morning, his Chief Press Secretary, simply told our reporter that:

“The Chairman is working with various security agencies to ensure that such incident do not occur again in our locality. He is on top of the matter”, he said.

Meanwhile, some residents have blamed the community for the nefarious acts of the cultists. They alleged that some families are protecting their children that are known cultists and have committed serious crimes.

They also blamed families of victims and other members of the community for allowing these cult guys operate as if they are above the law, because they are afraid to stand as witnesses against them for the fear that they could be made to pay for such act.
