-Revalidates Chief Bamisedun as Baale Odoroko
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen V, on Saturday, January 27, 2024, confirmed and installed High Chief Obasegun Oladunni Ogbe (the Araba of Ikorodu kingdom) as the Olootu ORODOKO LADI/ ODUJUMO ARABA FAMILY OF IKORODU.
The ceremony, which was performed at the Ayangbure pavilion, Ayangbure palace, Ikorodu, witnessed a large turnout of Odujumo Araba family chieftains and members.
Similarly, the revered monarch also revalidated Chief Babatunde Tajudeen Bamisedun as the Baale ORODOKO community of Ikorodu.
The two new chiefs were capped and presented with certificates of appointment by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom.
The Odujumo ARABA family is a big traditional family that has a record of having their ancestor, Oba Odujumo ARABA, as the king who combined the honour of being the king and the Araba of Ikorodu at the same time. This record remains unbroken till date.
Welcoming Odujumo Araba family to his palace, Oba Shotobi said that members of the Araba family are also family of the Orodoko.
“You are here to install the Olootu of Liadi Orodoko and Odujumo Araba as stated and presented by your representative, and to achieve that, you have brought a candidate which is accepted to the family”, the royal father said.
While asking the entire family to reconfirm High Chief Obasegun Oladunni Ogbe as their consensus candidate for post of the family head, Oba Shotobi received overwhelming positive response from the members present.
He commended the family for their unity and support for the Olootu and warned him to reciprocate the family’s goodwill with good leadership.
He charged the new Olootu and Baale to bring together the entire family and make it one – big – happy – united – family that would be the pride of Ikorodu, and generations yet unborn.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Japthet Akeem Abolade Odesanya, former Secretary to Ikorodu Local Government who spoke on behalf of the family at the palace, said that the entire royal family is visiting the palace to present the Olootu for traditional confirmation and blessings.
“We are here as family of Odujumo Araba of Ikorodu, to present to you High Chief Obasegun Oladunni Ogbe, the Araba of Ikorodu kingdom, as the Olootu Odoroko Liadi and Odujumo Araba of Ikorodu. We, as Orodoko family, are the owners of Liadi community”, he said.
“We are here to present the Olootu General of Liadi Orodoko and Odujumo Araba, and to get your traditional confirmation and blessings”, Odesanya, who is the Publisher, Factor newsmagazine, emphasized.
Other important family members at the installation ceremony were: Dr Olasunkanmi ‘Steppy’ Odesanya, PhD., Council Manager, Mr Sogo Oshikoya, Council Manager, Alhaji Rotimi Bamisedun, business mogul, Hon. Olanrewaju Sunmi Odesanya, Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo – Olu on DAWN and Southwest Integration; Alhaja Lati Sodiq, an Hotelier, Alhaja Iyabode Oduborisha, a business mogul, His Honour, Magistrate Adedeji Ogbe, and Barr. Olakunle Munir Odesanya, a legal practitioner.
Also, Oba Dare Osikoya, IKODASS Publicity Secretary, Mr Shakioye Osikoya, London based, Chief Awotunde Ogbe, Olotu Onire, Alhaji Dodo Matti and Chief Kolawole Ogbe, Asiwaju of Igunuko in Ikorodu among others.
