Senator Abiru Declares Winner Of Lagos East Senatorial Election

Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Adetokunbo Abiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Lagos East Senatorial Election.

Nine political parties participated in the election held across the Lagos East Senatorial District – Somolu, Kosofe, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and Ikorodu local governments on Saturday.

Prof. Simeon Adebayo Oladipo, declared Abiru winner of the election with 178,646 votes to defeat his closest rival, Akobada Nicholas Adekunle, garnered 80, 249 votes.

Other candidates and their results are Imumolen Ehijele Benedict (A) scored 2, 211 votes, Ashiru George Olalekan-Honey (ADC) scored 14, 713 votes, Olowolayemo Temitope Temitayo (B) scored 1,049 votes and Lawal Nurudeen Folorunsho (NNPP) scored 7,305 votes.

While Ediale Christopher (NRM) scored 508 votes, Oluwaranmilowo Mayowa (SDP) scored 6,009 votes and Obadiaru Charles Imuenoghonwen (YPP) scored 4, 345 votes.
