A contestant for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Lawal Olamide Olalekan, has called on political leaders across all parties in Ikorodu to embrace unity, peace and love,so that the community can attain the desired development.
He said that the overall goal of political engagements should be development, adding that there is need to be tolerant of one another, for that happen.
Olamide, who also charged constituents to look back on 2022, to view achievements and shortcomings, gave the charge in his new year message to the Ikorodu people, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT today.
“As we move into a new year, let us reflect on our achievements and limitations in the year that just ended”, he said.
“My dear brothers and sisters, we must not lose hope. It is not how long, but how well. I so believe that the best is yet to come. I call on all political leaders in lkorodu to embrace unity, peace llove and the spirit of tolerance. We should never become enemies because of political differences. In all, the growth and development of lkorodu is the interest”, he charged.
The Assembly candidate also asked youths to see the new year as a new hope for greater things to happen, and participate fully in the politics.
“I urge all the youths to see the New Year with renewed optimism, and be active participants in the struggle to make lkorodu Local Government great”, he said.
He also called on the politicians, in the build up to the 2023 general elections, to promote more things that unite the people of Ikorodu, and kicked against violence.
He also charged that political actors to focus more on issue –based campaign.
“As we enter the election year, let us pay more attention to those things that truly unite us and shun violence, let us listen to issues that will bring about the needed development, and not things that will run us down, let us show understanding towards one other, and conduct ourselves in a manner that will set us on the path of progress. The focus of my representation, if elected as a member of house of assembly, is to achieve an lkorodu and Lagos that is fit for the future, to build a stronger , healthier safer and better constituency for everyone”, he said.
