APC Flags – Off Sanwo – Olu’s Re – Election Campaign In Lagos

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State on Saturday (today) officially flagged off the re – election campaign for the incumbent governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

The event, which was well attended by party chieftains and members across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, was organized by the State Campaign Council.

At the rally, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Lagos East Senatorial candidate, spoke on behalf of other two Senatorial candidates while Rep. Babajimi Benson, representing the Ikorodu Federal Constitinecy did same on behalf of other 23 Federal House of Representatives candidates of the APC in Lagos.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, represented the 40 candidates of the Lagos State House of Assemby.

Sen. Ganiyu Solomon, Director General, State Campaign Council, speaking, appealed to the electorate to re-elect Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat and other candidates of the party.

“It is an honour and privilege to witness the flag-off of the gubernatorial election of 2023.

“I want all of us to listen attentively as our incumbent governor will give us details of his stewardship in the last three and a half years ago. I welcome you all to give this great event the honour it deserved.

“It is, therefore, imperative to seek your votes for our party and its candidates. I am appealing to you to re-elect Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, and all the candidates of the party in the 2023 elections.”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended Lagosians for their commitment and supports for the party and its candidates.

“Just a week ago, our party flagged off its presidential campaign where Lagosians in large numbers trooped out to receive Senator Bola Tinubu and his vice presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima”, he said.

“A week after, I want to thank you all for doing the same for our candidates. I appreciate your love, commitment, and solidarity shown to our candidates. I thank you for coming out to show that there is only one party, the All Progressives Congress in Lagos state. We will not take your support for granted.

“I greet all our APC-teeming supporters for coming out to solidarise with us”.

The governor, who said that his administration faced challenges, overcame them and continue to strengthen the state, charged Lagosians to re – elect him and also vote for all the APC candidates.

“It’s been an interesting and challenging journey in the last three and a half years for myself and the cabinet”, he said.

“We have seen a global economic meltdown but we have continued to scale through. We have come out better and stronger.

“With the slogan of our campaign, a greater Lagos rising. Why is Lagos rising? Lagos is rising because of our numerous achievements under the THEMES agenda.

“We have seen the commitment of our government. What more can we say?

“We have seen infrastructures being constructed, completed, and handed over to Lagosians.

“Therefore, I want to say that for a greater Lagos, go out there from house to house, campaign, and vote for all our candidates from the presidency down to the State House of Assembly.”

The APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, appealed to the electorate to speak with their permanent voter cards (PVC), and vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu for another term in office.

“I am happy to witness this historic event. Today’s event is a step to further develop our democracy.

“I, therefore, urge you all to speak with your PVCs to give our incumbent governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat another term of office.

“With your votes for Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, you are signing in for more development and a prosperous Lagos state.

“When he came on board, I am happy that he has done more than he promised four years ago and he will continue to do more.”

Rep. Benson, in a statement titled, “Ikorodu is unapologetically Sanwo – Olu”, released after the rally, declared the support of his constituency for Sanwo – Olu

“Today, the entire Onikan Stadium glowed in yellow, as I joined other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates to raise the flag for the re-election of Mr. Sellable, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy-Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term”, he said.

“Mr. Sellable has promised to double his efforts with more infrastructural development, improved transportation system, economic prosperity.

“I was handed the flag for my fellow House of Reps members in Lagos and I am assured that Lagos shall deliver unprecedented votes next year”, he added.

In his own statement on his social media handles, Sen. Abiru canvassed support for the Presidential and all other candidates of the APC.

“Today, I joined the Lagos State governor, His Excellency, @jidesanwoolu @drobafemihamzat and other leaders of our great party, APC, in Lagos State, for the governorship campaign flag-off”, he said.

“It was a great outing as party members and teeming supporters of our party showed solidarity for the APC governorship candidate and his deputy and all other candidates in the coming 2023 general elections.

“As the APC candidate for Lagos East Senatorial District, I was handed the flag of our party alongside other candidates.

“In my remarks at the rally, I appealed to Lagosians to support and vote for our revered National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the APC presidential candidate , Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and candidates of the party”, Sen. Abiru appealed.
