Ikorodu Resource Group Sets To Hold 4th Education Stakeholders’ Summit

In continuation of its effort to address the challenges facing education and to further develop the sector in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, the Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board (IDHRDB) has perfected plans to hold the Education Stakeholders’ Summit.

The summit which is the fourth is designed to examine the status of the education sector and proffer solutions to militating challenges.

In a statement signed by Prof. (Chief) Kunle Ade Wahab, OFR, OON, Chairman, lDHRDB, and Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, Chairman, Planning Committee of the summit, the Governor of the State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour at the summit initiated to create platform for the establishment of “Ikorodu Division Education Development Endowment Foundation”.

Also, books on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will be presented to secondary schools across the division at the summit.

IDHRDB operates under the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), a body responsible for the development of human and physical Infrastructures of Ikorodu Division.

At the summit themed, ‘Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education: The Panacea for Nigeria Participation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, the Emeritus Professor Sikiru Adebayo and late Professor Ayodele Awojobi, will be honoured as the ‘Education Personalities in Focus’, to encourage and motivate younger generation.

Dr Waziri Babatunde Adisa, a senior lecturer at University of Lagos (UNILAG), is slated to deliver a paper on the theme of the summit scheduled for the Arc. Michael Olutusen Onafowokan Auditorium, Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall, Ikorodu on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

The summit will be chaired by Otunba (Pharm.) Steve Adewale Anifowoshe, the Asiwaju of Ikorodu Kingdom with Mrs Feyi Abiru, Chairman, Home & You Limited, as the Co – Chairman.

According to the statement, some notable individuals who have contributed in no small measures to the educational development in Ikorodu Division: His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, the Odofin of Ikorodu, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, Minister for Works & Housing, Her Excellency, Mrs Adejoke Orelope – Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, former Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Tokunbo Wahab, special Adviser on Education, Mrs Anike Adekanye, Tutor – General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Hon. Justice Habeeb Abiru, JCA, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, Lagos Chief Judge, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, the Asipa of Ikorodu, Prof. Micheal O. Ajetunmobi, Professor of Mathematics, would be awarded in recognition of their respective contributions.

Also, Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru, Lagos East, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Federal House of Reps, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja and Mr Bayode Treasure Olawunmi, Guinness Book of World Record holder in individual and group categories of the Read Aloud Attempt among others

In the school category, Best School, Best Senior School in 2022 WASSCE, Best Principals, Best Students and Best Teachers among others in Ikorodu Division, would also be honoured.

More so, three corporate bodies have been selected for award for their developmental efforts in the Division.
