Egbin Monarch Pledges Support For LASUSTECH

The Obateru of Egbin, His Royal Majesty Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Dr. AbdulHakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, has stated that the Lagos State University of Science & Technology (LASUSTECH) is a pride of the entire Ikorodu Division which must be supported.

Oba Oyebo, who has been contributing immensely to the educational development in the division, especially in his Kingdom, pledged to support and contribute to the development of the institution.

The royal father gave the pledge when the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya and his members of his management team paid him a courtesy visit in his magnificent palace facing the Lagos lagoon on Friday, November 12, 2022.

“We have been thinking of many ways and things that we can do for the institution even since when it was a Polytechnic”, the philanthropist cum monarch said.

“Though, I am a product of YABATECH and they are that expecting l’ll to do more for the institution, but LASUSTECH is our own institution in Ikorodu Division and it is a must for us to contribute to its development.

“I will extend whatever personal support I can to the institution, and Egbin as a community will also contribute”, he assured.

While commending the VC for his achievements, Obateru charged him and the entire university community to ensure that discipline and morals are instill in students.

“As a Professor, you have seen it all and attained the highest in scholarship, and that’s why the government searched for you to administer the institution as VC, using your wealth of knowledge and experience to help us build the new University”, Oba Oyebo said.

“I want to plead with you sir, that the university should instill discipline and moral in the students. We used to have these in our society, unfortunately, all that is no more. The government also complicated the situation when History was removed from school’s curriculum until recently when it was re – introduced”.

Obateru also charged the VC to ensure that the LASUSTECH team visit Agura community where a new Oba was recently installed.

LASUSTECH VC, Prof. Odusanya, addressing the royal father earlier, said that the university team embarked on the visit to seek the palace’s support and cooperatiuon.

“We are here to tell you that the new university is all yours and we need your support in running it. We alone cannot do it, hence we need you to come board”, Prof. Odusanya said.

“Now that we have transmuted into a university, we need the support of the entire community. We don’t want to exist in isolation and that is why we need the support of everyone.

“We need the support in many ways like endowment for research, construction of hall among others.

“We need your support and cooperation to make the institution a reference point and also ensure that we impact on the Ikorodu Division as a whole”, LASUSTECH VC said.

The substantive VC of LASUSTECH has been visiting palaces across the Ikorodu Division to formally introduce himself to the royal fathers and also sought their cooperation and support towards the development of the institution.

Among those in his entourage were Dr Olumide Metilelu, Deputy VC (Academics), Dr Kolawole Gbemevoh Godonu, Deputy VC (Administration), Mr Maumo Jinadu, the institution’s Bursar, Mr Lanre Kuye, Director, Information and Public Relations, and Librarian among others.
