WTT:Ayangbure, IKODASS Welcome Table Tennis Prodigy, Mathew Kuti Back Home

-To be honored with ‘Young Achievers Award’

The Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Engr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, welcomed one of his sons and the young table tennis prodigy that conquered the world in Cairo last week, Mathew Kuti, back home.

Mathew defeated top rated young table tennis players to win both the U-13 and U-11 categories at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

At the palace of the Ayangbure on Wednesday, Oba Shotobi welcomed the young player and thanked him for making him, the entire people of Ikorodu Kingdom, Ikorodu Division and Lagos State and Nigeria in general proud with his exploits in the game at the international level.

The royal father offered the young tennis player special prayer for more successes and achievements in his professional career.

Oba Shotobi also charged him to extend the same commitment he has for table tennis to his education for him to be great in life.

Ayangbure presented cash support to the table tennis prodigy to further encourage him.

It was also a rousing welcome at the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall secretariat of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) where its Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo and his team welcomed Mathew and his team.

Erogbogbo commended him for his feat on the international stage which he said has brought honour to Ikorodu and fame to the boy and his family.

At the event, Mr Erogbogbo conferred on Mathew the IKODASS ‘Young Achievers Award’, stating that the award would be officially presented to him during the 2022 Ikorodu – Oga day Celebrations which starts Saturday, November 12 and ends Saturday, November 19.

Also joining the welcome party were the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikorodu branch, Council of Baales and Chieftains of the Lasunwon Ruling House.
