Ikorodu West NYCN Unveils Award Nominees In Three Categories

-THE IMPACT, others get nomination for Most Supportive Award

The second edition of the Ikorodu West Youth Day and Awards Night, has been slated to hold on Friday, November 11, 2022, in commemoration of the National Youth Day.

For this year’s awards which nomination link will be made public on Friday, members of the public are expected to determine winners in each of the categories through voting.

The awards dinner comes up at the 365 Lounge, Alogba Estate, Ebute, along Ibeshe Road, Ipakodo, at 4pm prompt.

Dr Abiodun Fatai Abatan, a senior lecturer at the Lagos State University, Ojo, will deliver the keynote address at the award event.

Comrade Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, ACArb, Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Comrade Anuoluwapo Taiwo, Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Tuesday, announced Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Taiwo Gafar Bolowotan, Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission and Dr Taiwo Kamorudeen Hassan, Managing Director, General Hospital, Ikorodu, as nominees for the Ikorodu Man of the Year category.

Other categories unveiled were: Councilor of Year, Woman Amazon of the Year, Most Supportive Media of the Year among others.

“As of our culture, the Ikorodu West Youth And Award Night was birth last year. Our Chief Host, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West who also doubles as our Grand Patron, uses the event to celebrate our youths as well as discover and project new talents in entertainment”, the statement said.

“It’s inevitable not to continue this tradition owing to the success of last year’s event. The bearer of Miss Ikorodu West crown for example, has now made her debut in acting and has recently earned several awards.

“The night also gives us the opportunity to celebrate and present award to people inspiring youths with their impacts in their respective chosen fields.

“This year’s award ceremony comes in categories and about four (4) persons have been nominated in each categories. The eventual winners are expected to be determined by a public vote.

“The link for the voting is expected to be released by Friday night”.

Explaining the criteria for the shortlisting of nominees for the Humanitarian Organisation Award category, the statement stated:

“Lions Club Ipakodo District, Lagos State Dregders Association, Ikorodu branch and ATLAS Initiative are being considered for the Humanitarian Organisation category of the award.

“Lion Club Ipakodo and Lagos State Dredgers Association are being considered for the infrastructural facelift at Ipakodo Primary Health Centre. This has helped the health centre to deliver good health care services without hindrance. ATLAS Initiative on its part has helped to return ten (10) out of school children in Ikorodu West LCDA, to School.

“This category of award is aimed at encouraging stakeholders to keep giving back to our society”.

In the category of the ‘Most Supportive of the Year’, the nominees are: THE IMPACT Newspaper, IKD 106.1FM and Ajasa Info.
