Lagos State Government has filed a notice of appeal against a judgment stopping towing of vehicles and imposition of fines by Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) without an order of a court.

The decision to appeal the matter was made known in a statement Wednesday, signed by the Director of Civil Ligation, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Mr Hameed Oyenuga.

The notice of appeal, filed on Sept. 30, contains four grounds against the judgment of Justice Olalekan Oresanya delivered on Sept. 22.

Lagos State said it had reviewed the judgment and was dissatisfied with it.

“The State Government reviewed the judgment and dissatisfied with same, has exercised its constitutional right of appeal by filing a Notice of Appeal on the 30th day of September, 2022. An application for a Stay of Execution of the judgment has also been filed”, the statement read.

“Consequently, members of the public are therefore advised to be law abiding and ensure compliance with all relevant Laws of the State”, it added.
