Best Mathematics Student In Ikorodu Division Laments Over Situation Affecting His Studies

Master Ogodo Chukwudi Moses, a student of Keme Balogun Senior College, Ibeshe, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State. Southwest, Nigeria, who emerged as the Best Mathematics student in Ikorodu Division, has lamented how his situation is adversely affecting his academic pursuit.

The Mathematics prodigy, while speaking with THE IMPACT on Sunday after receiving prize for emerging the best in the Mathematics competition organized by the Ikorodu Division Resources Development Group (IDRDG) last year, said that he prays that God uses the award to connect him with those that would be of help to him.

Aside that Ogodo emerged as the Best Overall student in Mathematics in Ikorodu Division, his school also emerged as the best school with 131 aggregate score.

“Though, some situations have been obstructing my studies but the Lord has been helping me”, he said.

“I have been dreaming about this award, but for my conditions. I am not with my parents; my father is late and my mother is just a casual worker and I have been struggling with my academics which has not been balanced.

“I have been struggling but God has been helping me, though, I am still looking up towards Him to send helper to help me in my academics”.

The excited student, who thanked the IDRDG for creating the platform, also said that he prays that God should use the award to connect him with his helper.

“I am very impressed and happy about the award by the IDRDG. I was over excited when I heard about it. I really thank God that my efforts have been crowned and I pray that the Lord should use this medium to connect me with those that will affects my future positively and when I am somebody in life, I will make sure that I pay back to the society, especially Ikorodu”, he said.

Explaining his Mathematics prodigy, Ogodo said that he always uses more than five different Mathematics textbooks in every class to train himself.

The student who expressed his love for the subject, also said that he has represented his school, Ikorodu and the state in many Mathematics competitions.

“I am glad to be the best student in Mathematics. It is by the grace of God and not by my power. I started studying Mathematics when I was in JSS 1. In my JSS I class, I used up to seven different Mathematics textbooks like Regional, McMillian, Functional Mathematics among others”, he said.

“I did same thing in my JSS 2 to also study Mathematics. During this time, many questions that I solved came out in competitions that I took part in. I also studied hard in my JSS 3 and from there, I emerged as the second best student in Ikorodu Mathematics Competitions in 2019.

“Also in my JSS 3, I represented Lagos State in Maths Olympiad in Rivers State where I took second position scoring 93%. Then, I became the best student in public school and when I got to the senior school, I also represented my school in the same competition.

“I also received award as best science student in SSS3, Overall Best Student”, he added.
