Activities at the centre of the Ikorodu township which is home to major traditional institutions, shrines, other important cultural centres and traditional markets were paralysed on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, as the annual Eyibi/Agemo festival commenced.

Residents trooped out in large numbers for the ceremony held at the Ajina market square traditionally known and called ‘Ita Efunlase’.

Annually, Agemo festival usually takes place in August in Ikorodu. The festival usually preceedes another important and the foremost festival, Eluku.

Alaiyeluwa, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, graced the opening ceremony with his chiefs and other dignitaries as demanded by the tradition.

On the same day, Lire and Agemo masquerades also came out.

The festival will last for seven days.
