The Missioner of the Ansar – Ud – Deen Society of Nigeria, Igbogbo branch, Alhaji (Imam) Luqman Abdul – Rasaq has charged Nigerians not to allow religious sentiments be their focus towards the 2023 General Elections but the need to join hands with a good candidate who is God – fearing to move the county out of its poverty circle.

He said that the Muslim – Muslim ticket of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, the former Governor of Borno State, presented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) should not be made an issue, rather, it should be seen as an effort towards bringing about a good government that would tackle myriad of challenges confronting the country.

The leader of the Ansar – Ud – Deen spoke with THE IMPACT at the press conference organized by the Igbogbo branch of the Society in commemoration of the 50 years anniversary of the Society last Saturday.

“The issue that should be confronting us is how we are going to join hands together to fight for the progress of Nigeria and move it out of the poverty circle that we are in”, Fadilat Rasaq said.

“We must all support one another for the progress of our country and forget about the religion connotation being read to the ticket.

“What we need now is a good and God – fearing person that we all can join hands together with to tackle problems facing Nigeria and move us out of it”.

The Ansar – Ud – Deen Missioner, who said that the combination is not new to the country’s political system, queried the controversies being generated by the ticket.

“The issue is not Muslim – Muslim or Christian – Christain ticket, but the progress of the country. This is not the first time that we will be having a Muslim – Muslim ticket, the question is why the issue is generating controversies now?”, he asked.

“Go round the 36 States of the Federation, and check very well, you will find more situations where Christian – Christian are incharge and nobody bothers about that”.
