Abiru Innovation Lab Calls For Students’ Application For STEM Programme

The Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), has called for another set of students to apply for the second edition (Cohorts 2) of its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programme.

The programme application is opened to the Senior Secondary School Students across the 98 wards in the Lagos East Senatorial District.

According to the organisers, participants will be taught physical computing as part of their STEM curriculum for 16 weeks with classes holding between 11am- 2 pm on Saturdays.

In other to encourage participation and not place any burden on parents, Senator Abiru has made provision for free lunch and transportation allowances for all participants that would eventually be admitted.

SAIL, an initiative of the Tokunbo Abiru Constituency Team (TACT) Foundation, is a dedicated innovation and tech lab that is providing relevant technology, business and digital skills to teach enthusiasts and young entrepreneurs across the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The first set of participants that successfully undergone the training had their graduation in July with top government functionaries, including the Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Innovation and Technology, Mr Olatunbosun Alake and Tutor-Generals from District 2 and 3 among other dignitaries in attendance.

At the graduation ceremony, teenagers, who are mostly from Public secondary schools in the District, showcased devices and other innovative solutions they developed to solve certain human problems.
