Awesu Gets PDP Ticket For Ikorodu Federal House Of Reps

Mr AbdulAzeez Adekunle Awesu, a leading aspirant for the Ikorodu House of Representatives seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emerged as the flag bearer of the party.

Awesu, who tied with another leading aspirant, Mr Abdul – Kareem Shittu at the rescheduled primary earlier this week after two failed attempts at the primary in May, THE IMPACT gathered, emerged as the party’s candidate on Thursday.

THE IMPACT gathered that he has been presented with the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) nomination form on Thursday, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT.

With this development, Awesu will be representing the party as its flagbearer in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency election in the 2023 General Elections.

In a phone conversation with Mr Awesu after his emergence, he said that he felt relieved after a long drawn battle.

“It’s like an heavy load has been lifted off my head today with the confirmation of my candidature as the PDP flag bearer for the Ikorodu Federal Constituency”, he said.

“Even though, I worked for it and earned it, I felt that there was a huge stumbling block that kept blocking my victory and refused to go away.

“Sincerely, I have not been able to sleep in the past weeks. Maybe I will get that sleep tonight.

“I think that God just wanted to show me how to appreciate the mandate better and at same time, telling me that He is with me”, Awesu said.

He appealed to other aspirants to see the contest as a phase while calling on them to join hands to get the ultimate victory for the party in the 2023 General Elections.

Meanwhile, supporters of the other aspirant, Shittu, are saying that the party is yet to decide on who will get the mandate of the PDP as candidate for the House of Representatives position in the 2023 General Elections.
