Ikorodu Now Netflix Catch-Centre – Sanwo-Olu

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, has stated that Ikorodu is now the catch – centre for Netflix, an American streaming service and production company which offers a library of films and television series through distribution deals as well as its own productions, known as Netflix Originals.

Sanwo – Olu said this while commending the abundant entertainment talents in Ikorodu and socio – economic factors that attracted developments to the Division during the commissioning of the Kimberly – Clark Huggies Diaper Manufacturing Plant at Odogunyan, last Friday.

The governor was fascinated by the performance of the Dream Catchers, a group of talented young girls who entertained the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, himself, ministers and other dignitaries at the event.

Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, also speaking at the event, described Ikorodu as the Miami of Lagos with industrious people.

“Today is also a day for Ikorodu because of what we have seen here from the very talented Dream Catchers. In fact, Ikorodu is now turning to our own Netflix catch – centre because we all know about Ikorodu Bois who are doing great things on Netflix”, Sanwo – Olu said.

“We know about the Deep Steppers who are doing great things also in entertainment base of our country and so, looking at the Dream Catchers today, it indeed gives me a sense of hope and believe that our future in entertainment and tourism are on right course and as the Honourable member of the House of Representatives said, Ikorodu is on the way of becoming the Miami of Lagos.We will see how that becomes possible very soon”.

While stating that Ikorodu is one of the fastest growing communities in the country, the governor also described the people as accommodating.

“Ikorodu, today, happens to be one of the fastest growing organized sectors in our country; Ikorodu, today, remains home to millions of Nigerians, and not only Lagosians, who indeed want to have a place where they can call home”, he said.

“The community is detribalized; the community is accommodating and welcoming to all foreigners. Thumbs up to our Ikorodu citizens”.

Rep. Benson, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, while describing Ikorodu as Miami of Lagos, said:

“Ikorodu Federal Constituency is the Miami of Lagos and the best constituency in Nigeria. We have two Universities, the biggest power plant in Egbin, two seaports and we have the people and vision that will take you to the next level”, Hon. Benson said.

“We are also very gender sensitive like Kimberly – Clark. We love women in Ikorodu. They made the world go round. They are productive, family – oriented, dynamic, tenacious and I can go on and on”.

Kimberly – Clark at the ceremony announced scholarship for the Dream Catchers through its She SABI Initiative.

Ikorodu over the years has produced many talented figures in the entertainment/movie industry.
