In commemoration of his birthday on Wednesday, January 19i, 2022, the Coordinator of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Comr. Asoro Abubakri Olatunji, organised a community health outreach for residents in the council.
At the medical check-up held at Oshodi – Ewenla community , the amiable youth leader provided free health care services which included TB and HIV tests, for the residents.
Thirty (30) school bags donated by an anonymous person were also given to pupils in the area.
The celebrant, in a statement, described the birthday celebration as his best ever, noting that slums have become habitat for infectious diseases like Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, a situation he said necessitated the medical outreach.
He said that the free medical outreach will further enable residents to be sure that their health is not in danger.
Asoro also noted that it pleases his heart to see smiles on the faces of people, especially children as well as the old and young ones on his special day.
The statement also said that organisers of the birthday medical outreach also facilitated the distribution of school bags to ensure that no child is left behind based on lack of necessary school materials.
Mrs Omolala Adewunmi who spoke on behalf of the donor of the bags, said that it bleeds the heart to see pupils going to school with polythene bags.
She urged the wealthy individuals and other well to do in the society to imbibe the culture of giving and assist the indigent school children and the less privileged.
She noted that Comr. Asoro’s passion for humanity is second to none, adding that he considered the medical outreach as the best way to warm his heart on his special day.
The event also witnessed the cutting of cakes donated by Teemeedee Cakes for the birthday celebration.
