The immediate past Chairman  of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Fathiu Salisu, on Monday (yesterday), caused an uproar as he joined issue  with leaders he said do not support the development and progress of young people.

Fathiu, who alleged that some leaders do not want young people to succeed, cursed that children of such leaders will also not attain greatness in life, a comment most of hundreds of people that gathered at the Ijede LCDA Secretariat roared resounding ‘amen’ to, in support.

The former council boss, who was unable to secure a second term in office due to some controversies, threw the ‘bombshell’ at the 100 days account of stewardship of the Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, and the launch of the ‘Ijede Tunrayo Ayo Nitemi Food Support Program’, by the incumbent Chairman.

“Today, we are here to celebrate 100 days of Hon. Motunrayo’s administration. I also celebrated my 100 days while in office and it was during the celebration that we laid the foundation of this new secretariat building”, Hon. Fathiu recalled.

“The Obateru of Egbin and the Regent/Olisa of Ijede performed the foundation laying ceremony that year.

“We should be praying for her and her team to succeed because that is all that their administration requires from us. They need our support and cooperation.

“Unfortunately, nobody in political office can satisfy politicians. They are very difficult people to please”, he said.

“My prayer is that those coming after us should perform more than we did and be successful.

“Today, Motunrayo is doing what I did not think of doing while in office and that is my prayer and I want her to succeed. I want her to record more accomplishments in office because we are concerned about the success of those that are coming behind us”, Hon. Fathiu added.

Then, the former Council boss, who is widely regarded as a gentleman, made the comment that surprised everybody at the event but which received thunderous ‘ase’ (amen) from them

“Unfortunately, those that are our own leaders do not have such a positive mind for us. They do not want us to succeed. They do not want us to achieve progress and be better than them”, he alleged.

“Children of anyone that prevents other people’s children from succeeding or achieving will never prosper or achieve greatness in life”, he cursed openly while a resounding ‘ase’ rented the air as the crowd echoed in agreement.
