Onward Members Commemorate Global Clean – Up Day With Sanitation Exercise In Odogunyan

Members of the socio – political group, Onward Movement of Nigeria, joined millions of people across the globe in commemorating the World Clean-up Day 2021, with the cleaning of dirt in Odogunyan area of Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

Hundreds of the members  of the group, which is the working machinery of the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, trooped out to the Streets of Odogunyan and engaged in several hours of sanitation exercise.

World Clean-up Day, which started four years ago, comes up every September 18 and according to the statistics, World Clean-up Day 2021 will unite more than 20 million people in 180 countries.

Volunteers and partners worldwide came together on Saturday (yesterday) to rid the planet of trash – cleaning up litters and mismanaged waste, from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.

Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, Director – General of the group and former Council Leader, Ikorodu Local Government with some members of the group during the sanitation exercise at Odogunyan to mark the 2021 World Cleanup Day on Saturday.

During the clean-up, members of the group also took time out to sentise residents of Odogunyan on the importance of having a clean environment.

They enjoined people to ensure that their environment is devoid of dirt and that waste is properly disposed of so as to have a healthier and habitable environment.

Speaking with THE IMPACT after the exercise, the Director – General of the group and former Council Leader, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, said that the exercise, which was geared towards maintaining a healthy environment, will be a continuous one.

He said that environmental cleaning is part of the Onward Movement’s community engagement exercise, adding  that it would be extended to other parts of the Ikorodu Constituency I.

Olosugbo also said that the aim of the exercise was to achieve a healthy and cleaner community.
