The former Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Taxation, Mr Fatai Lasisi has implored the Lagos State Government to release the final details of the Ikorodu Sub Regional Master Plan for implementation without any further delay.

He queried why the government plans is taking so long a time to be release for execution, adding that the longer the delay, the likelihood of encroachment by the people on areas earmarked for use.

Lasisi, who was also the former Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Resources Development Group (IDRDG) , was reacting to the issues raised by Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, the keynote speaker at the panel session themed, “Towards an effective local government administration”, organised by the Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths (CIDY) recently.

Bamigbetan had charged that Ikorodu needed its machinery to make the Master Plan introduced by the government work, stating that this would be the first sign to show that the Division is ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

“The Ikorodu Master Plan has been on for a long time, how long will it take the state to come out with a final draft of the master plan?” , Lasisi asked rhetorically.

“If proper care is not taken,  our people will encroach on the lands reserved or planned to be used for the master plan and  this will lead to demolition of properties later on and the state will end up paying compensations to the owners of such properties.

“So, I want to really implore the state government to, please, activate the master plan in the next few months. The master plan must be activated”, Lasisi charged

Stating that Ikorodu Division is ahead of other parts of the state in terms of economic development, the former IDRDG Chairman said that the group pioneered economic initiative which, according to him, was first of its kind in the state.

“When you also talk about the Ikorodu Economic Council, may I inform you that Ikorodu division is in the forefront of resource development in the state. As far back as year 2000, Ikorodu Division Resource  Development Group organized EXPO which was the first of its kind in the state and it was all about economic development of Ikorodu division and indeed Lagos State”, he recalled.
