Former Commissioner, Bamigbetan, LASPOTECH Rector, Others To Attend Discourse On Deepening LG Administration

The Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths (IDYI) is set to gather resource persons, council administrators and other stakeholders to discuss and find solutions to the challenges facing the local government administration.

The event, which will be a panel session, is scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the 500 – Seater auditorium of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH, Ikorodu main campus.

Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, a former Commissioner for Information & Strategy, former Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Community Affairs, two – term Council Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA and former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Lagos State, will deliver the keynote address.

The Rector of the LASPOTECH, Dr Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, will be the Chairman of the panel session.

In a statement signed by Coordinators and Secretaries of the CIDY, the group, which comprises professional youths across the six councils of Ikorodu Division, said that the session is part of its contributions to the development of the local government administration.

“The Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths (CIDY) is an association of professional youths that cut – across the six Councils in Ikorodu Division and was established for the purpose of promoting and engendering developments in the division”, the statement said.

“In our quest to contribute to the deepening of the Local Government Administration in Ikorodu Division, especially in the area of assisting the administrators of the six councils in finding solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting them, the Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths (CIDY) has scheduled an interactive panel session to brainstorm on the issue”, it added.

Also scheduled to speak on challenges facing the council administration are the six chairmen in lkorodu division.

“The six Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division have been scheduled to speak on their experience as Council Chairmen and the challenges facing them as direct participants in local government administration”, the group stated.

According to the organisers, seven panelists from different backgrounds have also been invited to discuss the issue and proffer solutions.

“There will be, at least, seven panelists, who have been drawn from different backgrounds, to speak on the issue”.

Stakeholders across the division and the Lagos State Polytechnic are also expected to grace the session.

“We are also expecting other stakeholders across the Ikorodu Division to participate in this interactive engagement. Among these are leaders of political parties, youth groups, Unions, CDC, opinion leaders and women advocacy representatives among others”.
