LG Elections: 4, 729 Residents Give Adeshina, APC Candidate Victory In Ikorodu

Lagos State lndependent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) Returning Officer (RO) at the Ikorodu Local Government collation centre last night, Mr Olumide Metilelu Olushola, the former acting Rector, Lagos State Polytechnic and currently the Deputy Rector (Academics) of the institution announcing Hon. Wasiu Adeshina as the winner of the Ikorodu LG Chairmanship election.

Despite the fact that the 2021 Local Government elections held across Lagos State were generally
peaceful and fair in Ikorodu Local Government, the exercise was marred by voters’ apathy as residents
largely shunned polling units.

According to the result announced by the Lagos State lndependent Electoral Commission (LASIEC)
Returning Officer (RO) at the Ikorodu Local Government collation centre last night, Mr Olumide Metilelu
Olushola, the former acting Rector, Lagos State Polytechnic and currently the Deputy Rector
(Academics) of the institution, only 6, 265 residents voted across the seven Wards in Ikorodu LG.

The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) was only able to garnered 4,729 votes while the main
opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 1,497 votes.

Other results announced by the RO are as follows:

Accord – 09 votes

APGA- 01 votes

SDP- 07 votes

YPP – 22 votes

Mr Olumide Metilelu, the LASIEC Returning Officer (right) and Mr Hakeem Fakoya, the LASIEC Collation Officer (2nd right) with party agents at the Ikorodu Local Government Collation Centre on Saturday.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, Mr Adesina Ayodeji Wasiu of APC is, hereby, declare winner of the
chairmanship election in Ikorodu local government, having complied with the requirements of the law
and having scored the majority number of votes. The aforementioned is, hereby, elected and returned.
Thank you”, Mr Metilelu declared as the party supporters went into wild jubilation inside the hall.

In the same vein, the APC Councilorship candidates were also returned in the seven Wards.

The Collation Officer (CO), Mr Fakoya Hakeem Owoniyi, announced the results for each of the parties
after collation of the election results from each of the Wards, as follows:

APC- 519 votes

PDP – 114 votes

YPP – 08 votes

Total votes = 738 votes

Ward B (Aige/ Solomade)

Accord – 002 votes

APC – 702 votes

PDP – 217 votes

YPP – 009 votes

Total votes = 990 votes
