Bolowotan Gold Cup 13th Edition: One Champion To Emerge, 72 Matches To Be Played

In every tournament, there will only be a winner but the process is always multifaceted, tasking and challenging and that’s exactly what the 13th edition of the Bolowotan Gold promises to showcase this year, as 32 teams set to begin hostilities for the ultimate prize.

A total of 72 matches are expected to be played in the tournament which will kick-off on Sunday, June 13, 2021, while all the matches would be played at the Police Barracks Playing Ground, Igbogbo road, Ikorodu.

Danny FC will host Otungbuwa FC in the first match of the tournament on Sunday (tomorrow), while Bazoo FC will be playing against Life Family FC in the last match of the group stage on Tuesday, July 17, 2021.

A total of 48 matches are expected to be played in the group stage according to the Ikorodu Divisional Football Association in a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Luqman Shonibare, and Secretary, Mr Onasanya Fajebe Babatunde.

All the 32 teams participating in the tournament.

There would be 16 matches in the Round of 16, four matches in the quarter final, two matches in the semi – final and one match each in the third place and final stages.

Bolowotan Gold Cup is an annual football tournament which is being sponsored by the Director – General, Lagos State sports Commission (LSSC), Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, in collaboration with the Ikorodu Divisional Football Association (IDFA), which is the organiser soccer event.

IDFA chieftains had about two weeks ago parleyed with club managers, coaches, players and referees on the commencement of the tournament and what is expected of them.
