The Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, has said that the entire Ikorodu Kingdom is praying and considering the immediate past Chairman of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, for bigger role.

The royal father said this in commendation of the impacts and achievements of the  former Permanent Secretary/Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, as the IKODASS Chairman in the last four years, when Abiru was presenting his successor to the monarch at the palace on Sunday (yesterday).

“There has been tremendous progress since the time of Baba Benson as the Chairman of IKODASS to Abiru’s time”, Oba Shotobi said.

“I am particularly proud of your achievements (Abiru). He carried me along in all his activities and programmes.

“A lot of people came to me that we should consider him for higher responsibilities and we tried that politically back then”.

The royal father also revealed that some stakeholders in Ikorodu recently told him that he should consider presenting Otunba Abiru as Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government to bring his wealth of experience, administrative and managerial capacities to turn around the council.

“Some days ago, some people still came to me that the Ikorodu Local Government needs someone with high intellect and capacity and they said that we should consider Abiru for the position of Ikorodu Local Government Chairman but I said no because of some political factors”, Oba Shotobi said.

“We will continue to pray for you for a better position to honour your service to Ikorodu Kingdom.

“His pedigree and records are there for anybody to see and challenge. I am proud of you and I can vouch for you anytime any day”.

The Ayangbure of Ikorodu also said that he insisted on a second term for Abiru as the IKODASS Chairman because of the competence and capacity with which he effectively discharges responsibilities given to him.

“I refused to let him go after he completed his first tenure of two years as IKODASS Chairman and he came back for the second term to perform very well again”..

Otunba Abiru first served as the IKODASS  Chairman for a two years tenure between 2017 and May 26, 2019 and was returned for a second term to serve for another two years between May 26, 2019 and Sunday, May 16, 2021.

He is the first chairman of the social, cultural and developmental association to serve for two terms.
