A Chairmanship aspirant in Ikorodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Samuel Adegboyega Oyebola, popularly known as ‘Ologijo’, has assured that women, youths and special people will be given necessary attention if elected to lead the council in the forthcoming Local Government  election coming up in July.

The leading Chairmanship aspirant made this known at the weekend when he met with women across the council in furtherance of his campaign to get people’s support towards emerging as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer in the primary election of the party holding on May 29.

Prince Oyebola also dispelled rumour that he is not an indigene of Ikorodu, alleging that the rumor is being peddled by his opponents who are afraid to go into a contest with him.

“We are gathered here because politics is very important and we have to be mindful of those that are managing our affairs”, he said.

“I am a bona fide son of Ikorodu. My father is from lkorodu while my mother is from Ebute in Ipakodo in Ikorodu West LCDA, and I have been engaging in political and other activities here for many years.

“They are saying all that because they cannot face us in the field”.

While stating the importance of women in the party politics, Prince Oyebola said that his government will give them necessary focus if elected as the chairman of the council.

“We attach importance to women because they are the owner of the party. Their votes are massive and they can mobilize the people in the grassroots. We want you to mobilize for our success”, the aspirant pleaded.

“If voted into office, we are going to restructure the WAPA Department in our council and make it more effective and impactful for women.

“We are going to discharge our duties to the entire town but our party people are going to get the benefit of being party members”, he said.

“Our focus will also take care of citizens, widows and special people who can no longer work again.

“We have special plans to support them and also give them a sense of belonging. Women need special attention and support because of the situation in the country.

“We also have plan to support artisans too whom we have been receiving their supports”.

The Chairmanship aspirant also promised to carry the community people along in all his programmes and policies and not just impose his will on them.

“Our programmes will not be imposed on the people. Our programmes are going to evolve in such ways that people are going to be the ones to determine what they want”.

Speaking further, the aspirant said that he is going to the council to lay a good foundation for a working local government system that will have an impact on the people which the local governments are created for.

“We are going to the council to lay the foundation for good governance and a system that those coming after us will continue to build upon”, Prince Oyejola said.

“We are God sent to benefit the people. My background does not allow me to lie or prevent me from performing when given responsibilities”.

He urged party members and residents of Ikorodu West LCDA to give him maximum support during the primary and the LG elections.

“I urge you all to go on streets to canvas others and give us maximum votes in the primary election and also at the council election”, the aspirant further pleaded.

The Director – General of the Prince Adegboye Oyebola Campaign Organization, Mr Sikiru also appealed for support from women and entire party members for Prince Oyebola.

“We thank women and youths for coming. We are winning because we have programmes that will benefit the people.

“We want you to vote for Ologijo massively on May 29.

“The name that will be on the ballot papers is Prince Samuel Adegboyega Oyebola and not ‘Ologijo’. For our elders and others that are not literate, you will have the opportunity to be guided by the electoral officers.

“There will be no ringing or imposition; rather, our party members will have their way in electing their choice who is Ologijo”, he added.

While assuring women and other party members that there will be no violence on the day of the primary election, Mr Sikiru also added that the emergence of Ologijo as chairman will bring positive development to Ikorodu West LCDA.
