Sanwo – Olu Appoints Two Prominent Ikorodu Sons, 15 Others As Permanent Secretaries

Mr OLOWOSHAGO, Kamar Owodiran and Mr KASALI, Adeniran Waheed, who are newly appointed as Permanent Secretaries.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday (yesterday), approved the appointment of 17 Permanent Secretaries in the Lagos State Public Service.

Among the appointees are two prominent sons of Ikorodu, Mr OLOWOSHAGO, Kamar Owodiran and Mr KASALI, Adeniran Waheed.

While Olowosago is from the prominent Olowoshago family in Ikorodu and brother to the publisher of the Oriwu Sun newspaper, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, Kasali is a prince of Igbogbo and brother to the incumbent Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Kasali.

Until their appointments, Mr Olowosago was the Director, Home Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs,while Mr Kasali was the Head of Training, Public Service Staff Development Centre.

According to the circular with Ref. No: CIR/HOS/’21/Vol.I/008, issued by the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri – Okunola, it was said that Governor Sanwo – Olu approved the appointments of the 17 Permanent Secretaries, adding that the appointments take effect immediately.

“It is, hereby, notified for general information that Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved the appointment of seventeen (17) new Permanent Secretaries in the Lagos State Public Service with effect from 28 January, 2021. The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are as presented here-under:

The Head of Service, while stating that the deployment of the new Permanent Secretaries would be released in due course, he also wished them the most rewarding and impactful tenure.

Mr Olowoshago Kamal

Mr. Kamardeen Olowoshago work career began in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer at the Lagos State Polytechnic Isolo, now Ikorodu, in the Use of English and Communication Skills.

He joined the Lagos State Civil Service as an Administrative Officer in 2000 and has had a very impressive Public Service career. He was voted the best officer in the Ministry of Establishments and Training 2005 and won the State Government recognition Award?in 2006 with a commendation letter personally signed by the then former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He was a member of the ‘Project Wheel Team’, a group of selected Civil Servants that worked with Messrs Price Waterhouse Coopers (Pwc) that fashioned out a Strategic Management framework for Lagos State Public Service in 2008.

He also worked with DFID on the State Partnership for Accountability, Responsiveness and capability (SPARC) programme that produced among others a Public Service Management (PSM) framework for State Public Service in 2010.

He has worked in various Ministries and Agencies including the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Office of the Head of Service, Public Service Office and presently Office of the Chief of Staff, Governors Office as Deputy Director and Head, Planning Department.

He is an Associate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), a Member, Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Member, Nigerian Society of International Law (NSIL) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Public Administrators of Nigerian (IPAN).

Mr Kasali Waheed

The Director of Training and Head of Local Government and Security Studies, joined the Centre as a Senior Programmes Development Officer in 1998, after a stint at the defunct Lagos State Post-Primary Teaching Service Commission and the Michael Otedola College of Education (MOCPED), Noforija, Epe, Lagos, Nigeria.

He holds an Honours Bachelors Degree of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in Political Science and a Masters of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in International Relations.

As Director and Head of Local Government and Security Studies Programme Area of the Centre, he served as the interface between her and the critical Local Government Service Staff.

Through the years, he has designed and implemented cutting-edge learning and development programmes specifically targeted at the staff of the tier of Government closest to the citizenry.

A certified Trainer by the Nigerian Council for National Development, Kasali is a member of the Nigerian Institute for Training and Development (NITAD) and the Social Studies Association of Nigeria.
