Lajo CDA Gives One Year Account Of Stewardship

One year after assuming office, the executive committee of the Lajo Community Development Association (CDA) has rendered its account of performances to the community.

The exco, which assumed office in December 18, 2019, gave records of its performances in the areas of Electricity/Transformer, Road Grading, Health Development, Education and Youth Development.

In a release signed by the Secretary to the CDA, Comrade Ayoade Ajayi, a retired Deputy Director, Ministry of Education, he stated that the CDA has procured a transformer for regular power supply in the community, embarked on regular grading of roads within the community, facilitated the expansion of the Lajo Primary Health Centre (PHC) through Hon. Ashafa (the Councillor for the area), relocation of students of Lajo Senior Secondary School to a more conducive site and engagingyouths in the community in the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA programmes.

The CDA also stated that it plans to decentralizethe community structure for better organization and ensure that more transformers are facilitated or procured for improved power supply in the community among others.

Below are the specific achievements of the CDA in the last one year.

Electricity/Transformers:

-Constant funding of a transformer account for regular supply of electricity through the procurement of transformers.

-Construction of a fence around the transformer to guarantee its security.

-Replacement of burnt transformer pillars in May 2020.

-Repair of burnt transformer in October 2020.

-Swift response to faults reported/detected by the electricity committee which is approximately 26 times in the space of one year.

-Facilitated the donation of a 500KVA transformer from the Lagos State Government in November  2020.

-Facilitated the installation of the third upriser up to the Agric/Faith & Fish pond/ Diamond Zones of Lajo.

-Already in touch with the State Government, through the office of the Local Government &  Community Affairs, for another donation in 2021.

-In constant touch with Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA for another donation of a 500KVA transformer to Lajo community.

 Road Grading/Construction:

-Grading of our roads from Igbo-Agbowa up to Lajo in February 2020.

-Constant maintenance of our major/link roads to facilitate easy movements.

-Improvement & management of revenue collectible at the link road.

-Facilitation of officers of the Ministry of Environment & Water Resources to our major/link roads in August/September 2020 when it was flooded and the commitment to assist the community in that regard soon.

-Recent efforts of the CDA to grade both the aajor/link roads up to Oke-Ogo Estate.

A transformer procured for the community by the CDA.

Health Development:

-Regular payment of NEPA bills for the health centre in the community.

-Attraction of qualified medical personnel to the health centre in the community.

-Procurement of drugs for the health centre in the community.

-Erection of a decent canopy at the entrance of the health centre in the community.

-Facilitation of a new modern building at the back of the existing health centre which foundation was laid recently by our own Baale, Chief (Dr.) Waliu Oduntan, on 15/12/2020.

Some of the electricity poles procured and erected by the CDA under the period in review.

Educational Development:

-Inauguration of a new Education Committee to take charge of schools in Lajo.

-Relocation of students of Lajo Community Senior Secondary School to a new conducive site.

-Transparent running of the school through the   revenue collectible from the place.

-Approval in principle from the government for the temporary use of the college school hall for the take-off of the senior school.

-Approval in principle for the construction of a prototype building for both Lajo Junior/Senior Schools by officials of the Ministry of Education in 05/12/2020.

-Approval in principle for the registration of our SS2 students for external examinations, e.g WAEC/NECO,during a visit  to our school by the officials of the Ministry of Education on the 3rd of December, 2020.

-Transparent management of the revenue generated  from school fees & other levies collectible from the school henceforth.

Youth Development:

-Participation  in Igbogbo Kingdom activities by our youths.

-Participation in the ongoing IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA CHAIRMAN’S CUP by our youths

-More plans regarding  the participation in the youth developmental programmes.

IN VIEW:

-Decentralization of the present CDA for proper & faster community development.

-Replacement of bad cables on our poles.

-Facilitation of more transformers for proper lighting of our community to prevent security breach.

-Attraction of more government patronages to the community to make it more livable.

-More involvement in Youth Developmental programmes.
