He garnered all the 9 votes cast during the election held for the position.

The stool, which is situated at Ereko on the Island, has been vacant for a while but Prince Kosoko, a graduate of the Lagos State Polytechnic, emerged as the favoured candidate in the keenly contested election held on Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Other contenders for the traditional position were Alhaji Isah Aregbesola, Prince Shola and Hon. Yaqub Aromashodun.

According to a statement released after the election, Hon. Yaqub Aromashodun from Odunsi House was disqualified on the ground that the he is not from the Olojo Branch of the ruling house where the next Oloja stool has been zoned to.

“After much intense discussion and election, the new Kosoko – Oloja of Lagos emerged convincingly with a margin of 9 votes to nil”, the statement said.

“Prince Tiamiyu Abiola Olojo Kosoko from Olojo Branch unanimously emerged as the winner.

“After this keenly contested election, I want to believe that all issues have been laid to rest and we can now have a way forward regarding putting  our family where we rightfully belong in Lagos and in the Global community.

“I want to appeal to the new Chief not to see anyone as contender but treat all as a unit.

“To those who aspired and couldn’t get the nod, you’re never a loser, only that the stool can only be occupied by just one person. Your plans, visions and missions for the family will still be needed by the Oloja of Lagos to steer the affairs of the family.

“Congratulations to High Chief Tiamiyu Abiola Olojo Kosoko”.
