About 200 residents of Imota Local Council Development Area in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, benefitted from the free medical checkup organized by the Imota Students’ Union (ISU) to kick off its 2020 Students Week.
The Imota annex of the Ikorodu General Hospital came alive on Monday (yesterday) as beneficiaries, who were mostly aged citizens, pregnant women, adults, and young people residing in the Imota community, trooped out enmasse to benefit from the medical exercise.
The Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, demonstrated his support for the students with his royal presence at the health enlightenment exercise, which was one of the flag- off programmes of the weeklong event.
Doctors, nurses, health educators and supporting staff of Non – Governmental Organisations (NGOs) were already on ground and ready to provide free medical services when residents started trooping into the venue of the exercise as early as 7.30am.
In his royal remarks at the health enlightenment programme, Oba Agoro urged residents to always take out time to care for their health and general well – being.
Hon. Sunday A. Benson, Vice Chairman, Imota LCDA, while corroborating the statement of the revered monarch, also commended ISU for the initiative.
The Chairman, Organising Committee, ISU Week 2020, Comrade Adebogun Oriyomi Modupe, thanked all the medical personnel, supporting staff and NGOs such as Damsy Foundation, Community Human Right Foundation, and USAID for their support for the programme.
Other programmes slated for the 2020 edition of the ISU Week are presentation of JAMB Scholarship, Talent Hunt and Youth Educational Symposium.
