Alhaja Ogunniyi Bows Out As Bello Steps In As New Principal, Oriwu Senior College, Ikorodu

Alhaja Abiodun Sherry Ogunniyi, the outgoing Principal and Mr Akeem Bello, the incoming Principal, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu.

It will be an end of a glorious and eventful era in the history  of the premier College in Ikorodu, Oriwu Senior Model College, when the award winning Principal of the school, Alhaja Abiodun Ogunniyi, retires after 35 years of meritorious service to the teaching profession  in Lagos State.

Alhaja Ogunniyi, who was posted to Oriwu Senior Model College, the number one school in Lagos State, on 20th December, 2012, will be retiring from active service on the 28th of September, 2020.

Retiring school administrator is expected to be replaced by Mr Akeem Bello, the Principal of the Ipakodo Senior Secondary School, and a Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Education.

Mr Bello holds Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, while he earned his First Degree in the same discipline from the prestigious Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.

The Principal- designate, who is from Imota area of Ikorodu Division, also studied Chemistry and Physics at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Otto/Ijanikin, Lagos.

 He has been the Chairman of the annual Oba Kabir Shotobi Mini – Marathon race which is being sponsored by the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, since inception.

 The incoming Principal is expected to step into a very big shoe and continue the tradition of excellence and outstanding academic performances that the premier college is reputed for.

THE IMPACT gathered that Bello has been resuming at his soon to be duty post to understudy the outgoing Principal and has also received necessary handover documents for the smooth and effective running of the college that has produced Best School Administrator (Principal) in Nigeria in 2015 and Best Teacher in Nigeria in 2019.

The duo of Alhaja Ogunniyi and Mrs Esther Elusakin won the honours respectively.

 Alhaja  Ogunniyi started her teaching career in 1985. She was also a class teacher in Oriwu College before becoming the Principal of the Senior arm of the school in 2012.

 Among the outstanding achievements, awards and honours won by the College  under Alhaja  Ogunniyi’s tenure are Best Senior Secondary School in Lagos State (2020), Africa Unique Leader Education Administrator (2016), Best Principal (Senior Secondary School Category), Lagos State (2014), Africa Top Schools Award (2016) and Most Outstanding School Award (2016).

Others are Best Secondary School in Lagos State (Public) – 2015, Africa Top Schools Award (2017), Best Principal Education District II (2018), First Position, National Secondary Schools’ Debate and Best Principal, Senior School Category, Education District II (2013) and Best Student in WASSCE 2015 Senior Category, Education Dist. II (2015), among many others.
