Reconstruction work at the collapsed Itunmoja bridge

The Ikorodu Local Government authority at the wekend, commenced the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge at Itunmoja area of the council.

Part of the bridge, which connects the centre of tradition in Ikorodu Kingdom – Ajina/Itunmoja to Alhaji Street and other parts of the town, caved in during the week.

The bridge also links the people of Itunmoja and other sections of Ikorodu community to the traditional markets in the ancient town.

In a statement released on Saturday (yesterday) and signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, it was said that the council chairman is working to fix the bridge, which remains important to the social and economic development of Ikorodu.

“The bridge, which happens to be a major link road in and out of Itunmaja, suddenly collapsed and in a swift manner, the Wasiu Adesina led administration of the Ikorodu Local Government is already working round the clock to get the bridge back to shape so that it would not cause further hardship for the good people of Ikorodu”, the statement stated.

The CPS, in the statement, also stated that the reconstruction of the important bridge would be done by the Hon. Adeshina’s administration in its quest to make Ikorodu better.

“The Chairman is reputed to have embarked on more capital projects like road reconstruction amongst others in the past few years.

“This is one of the measures to ensure a cleaner, safer and better environment for the people of Ikorodu Local Government”, the statement added.
