In support of the Lagos State Government Food Relief package initiative, Mrs Enitan Jessica Oba, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has provided food items and cash donations for 50 homes in her council area.
According to her, the gesture is necessary because the Lagos State Food relief packages cannot get to the entire Lagosians and there is need for every public office holder and private company and individual to complement the effort by providing food items and cash donations in order to reach more people.
In view of this the WAPA Supervisor, on Saturday (yesterday), distributed tubers of yam and cash to residents in her council area as her own contribution in assisting to cushion the effects of the lockdown on families that are unable to provide for themselves .
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Mrs Jessica Oba stated that :
“The gesture was prompted on realizing that there is need to compliment the efforts of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chairman of the Ikorodu West LCDA, Honourable (Princess) Olajumoke Jimbo – Ademehin, some public office holders and others in assisting people during this time of lockdown”, she stated.
“This pandemic came all of a sudden and it caught the system unaware. I cannot even imagine the situation our people are in this trying time. They need their representatives more than ever before “, she stated while urging other public office holders to provide support for the residents.
“I am using this opportunity to urge those that are privileged to please use this period as opportunity to help the needy around them. We all must assist humanity to heal the World”, she added.
The grassroots politician also stated that she would be on ground as volunteer for door-to-door distribution in case the state government decides to distribute relief materials to women in Ikorodu West LCDA.
